This is the section where I talk a little about the future and your home and life together.
Address to the Couple
Option 1
Bride and Groom, you have
come to love each other deeply and sincerely. That love has given you the
desire to unite in marriage and to establish a home together. In this ceremony
you are dedicating yourselves to the happiness and well-being of each other. Your marriage is an act of faith. It must not be based on the hope
of what the other will do or will not do, might become or might not become. It
must be based on the firm belief in your own individual worth and that of the
other. Your vows today are an expression of your devotion.
Option 2
We cannot
know what the future will bring into the lives of Bride and Groom but we hope
that they may be equal to the demands of all their tomorrows. May their
marriage be a shared adventure, rich in moments of serenity as well as in
moments of excitement. May their
home be a place of peace, where the concerns with the self do not overshadow
those for others, and where the warmth of laughter can put crisis into its
proper perspective. May they
encourage each other in whatever they set out to achieve. May their love endure forever.
Option 3
Bride and Groom,
your marriage is intended to join you for life in a relationship so intimate
that it will change your whole being. It offers you the hope, and indeed the
promise, of a love that is true. To attain such love you will have to
commit yourselves to each other freely and gladly for the sake of a fulfilling and
meaningful life together.
Option 4
Bride and
Groom, marriage today is a celebration of the mutuality and interdependence of
all life. It is making visible the unseen bonds that already entwine and hold.
Marriage is the choosing of one special person to walk beside throughout the
journey of life. Marriage today is a choice - freely, openly, gladly made - of
a life companion, partner and friend. Today you are publicly
making that choice. In making that choice, and in living out that choice, remember
that you are gifts to one another.
