Here are some examples of other types of unity ceremonies to choose from. As with the Unity Candle and Sand Ceremonies, we can change the wording around to fit with what you would like. For example, maybe you really liked the wording from the Sand Ceremony but you always wanted to do a Wine Ceremony - with a little bit of creative editing we can switch it around to work for you.
Water Ceremony
The couple each pours different colored water into a single glass, creating a third color.
Bride holds the container of yellow water. Yellow is the color of sunshine. The color yellow represents joy and happiness. It also stands for wisdom. Groom holds the container of blue water. Blue represents confidence and trust. The color blue is for faithfulness and trust.
Bride and Groom, this empty vessel between you represents your marriage. It is a new beginning in your relationship with each other.
Bride, as you pour your yellow water into the container you bring sunshine and wisdom to your marriage. And Groom as you pour your blue water into the marriage vessel, you bring confidence, trust and loyalty to your marriage. The blending of the yellow and blue water creates green, representing the blending of your lives together as one. The color green represents endurance, growth and harmony. May your marriage reflect these qualities. May your energies in this marriage blend just as equally as your give freely of yourself while honoring the greatness of each other.
Wine Ceremony
The Bride and Groom each take a glass of wine and each pour some into a third glass.
Bride and Groom you have combined this wine into a unique blend. When you join your lives you are making a new blended life. Drink now to celebrate your future together. Take turns drinking from the same glass.
As you have shared the wine from this cup, so may you share contentment, peace and fulfillment from the cup of life. May you find life’s joys heightened, its bitterness sweetened, and each of its moments blessed by true companionship and love.
